Anand Gala

Founder & Managing Partner

Mr. Gala is the Founder and Managing Partner of Gala Capital Partners, LLC, and has spent the past 30 years in various executive capacities within the software, real estate & restaurant spaces.

His historical investment portfolio has included the development and management of over 60 locations of nationally recognized chain restaurants throughout the western United States. Current portfolio brands under development, ownership and operation include MOOYAH Burgers, Fresh Griller and Famous Dave’s BBQ. Past restaurant investments have included franchise ownership and development of Applebee’s, Del Taco, Jack in the Box and Seattle’s Best Coffee.

His real estate investments have focused on the acquisition, development and management of commercial real estate assets; comprising of commercial office buildings, free standing units and shopping center pad sites to be developed into retail and restaurant sites. Recent and current projects include a number of office buildings and restaurant sites located throughout California and Arizona.

Mr. Gala graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and has served as a member of the USC Marshall School of Business Forum on Family Businesses. He currently serves on the Board of Famous Dave’s of America, Inc. (Nasdaq:DAVE), as a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), for The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE) and as a member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO). He has also served as past Chairman of the YPO Food & Beverage Industry Network and -- since 2014 --as Chairman of the YPO Franchise Industry Network. He is directly involved in numerous charitable causes and has served as a Director of the Gala Foundation since 2000. 

Gilles Kersten

Senior Analyst

Mr. Kersten is an M&A professional and financial analyst originally from Amsterdam, Netherlands. He has deep experience in a variety of industries, including food & drink, real estate and manufacturing.

Kersten began his career in investment banking, where he served as an M&A adviser working on sell-side and buy-side deals. He also acted as an important part of the corporate development team for a global chemical company, responsible for developing and executing firm M&A and investment strategy. He has worked on numerous business unit divestitures, plant closures and joint venture projects in various parts of the world.

Mr. Kersten graduated from the University of Amsterdam with a Master’s degree in Business & Economics. He is currently finishing an MBA at The Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine, focusing on strategy and corporate finance.
